Fireplace Mantel

The purpose of the project was to design a fireplace mantelpiece for the entry hall of the Jane Beale House in Fredericksburg, VA. Architectural history books and applique design websites were used for inspiration and as references. The design of the central applique was based off of the the design on the pediment of the front porch and the fleur-de-lis appliques are from the downspout of the gutters. These stylistic elements are shown below.
