The Purpose

The purpose of the course was to learn about the use and composition of Overlay Districts as used in communities throughout the United States and the increasingly common establishment of Art Districts. It is not a common fact that the city of Fredericksburg, VA has an existing arts district because it is not sufficiently publicized, and there are design and content issues with the current art-related websites. The goal of the course was to expand the district in size and popularity by creating one comprehensive website and developing new arts initiatives that will increase tourism and beautify the city.

Personal Contributions

Created the website’s color scheme

Assisted in drawing the initial sketches of the art district’s mascot, Freddy the Fox

Used Google My Maps to create the art district’s map, which includes all of the art-related resources in the city and arranged them in an organized manner by categorizing, using icons, and color coding

Drew an AutoCAD sketch of a Pallet Park, which includes the dimensions of pallets and a parking space in order to show the public how many pallets one would need to correctly set up a Pallet Park

Designed the logos for the tours in the Freddy’s Picks section
