April 2017
24” H X 7.5” W
1/2-inch Birch veneer plywood, wood glue, wood putty, gold spray paint, glass vase, glass beads, artificial plant, water, fishing pole, and fishing hook

The purpose of the assignment was to explore the relationship between found objects and constructed sculptural forms. Wooden forms were constructed to conceal and reveal parts of a found object.

Once it was decided that a fishing pole and fish bowl would be used as the found objects, sketches of different wooden forms were drawn in conjunction with the fishing pole and bowl. The pentagonal prism is made out of 1/2-inch Birch veneer plywood. First, the sides of the prism were cut and then, the geometric shapes were cut into the sides using a jig saw.
