After receiving a tourism grant to create and install a LOVEwork in the ViBe Creative District, the district issued a public call for artists to submit design ideas of Virginia Beach’s first 3D LOVE sign. I sent in an idea and ViBe selected my design. My vision was fabricated by local sign experts Signs of Success.

The LOVEworks program is an extension of the nearly 50-year-old “Virginia is for Lovers” brand, designed to promote travel and tourism throughout Virginia. The LOVE sign will be added to a collection of more than 100 large-scale LOVEworks that are installed in towns and cities across the Commonwealth. These LOVEworks spark community pride, attract tourists, and spread the message that “Virginia is for Lovers.”

As a Virginia Beach native, I wanted to reflect the area and the community in a simple yet eye-catching way. This city has so much to offer so I am ecstatic that there is now a LOVEwork to solidify the fact that Virginia Beach and the rest of Virginia is indeed for lovers.
